    • About MeIllustration work I’ve been an artist since the late 90′s, and a published illustrator since 1999, when a couple of magazines featured my work at the same time. Since then, I’ve completed many works for various publishers, from small micro-press publishers up through larger publishers like Subterranean and Cemetery Dance. I’m lucky enough to have had a piece chosen for the prestigious Spectrum annual, a yearly competition and book for the best in contemporary genre artwork. The artwork was originally for Wicked Hollow #1, a small press magazine, and is titled “Fetal Position”. It appeared in Spectrum 9, and somehow was the only grayscale piece for 20 pages in any direction. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="450" caption="Fetal Position"][/caption] Since then I’ve done work for Subterranean Press’s Night Visions 12, part of the prestigious line of Night Visions books stretching back to the 1980′s. My work for the Maelstrom imprint of Thunderstorm Books will be seen at the end of 2010. I did three covers and signature sheets for three of their books: Six Days by Kelli Owen, and The Rising: Deliverance and A Gathering of Crows, both by Brian Keene. I’ve worked quite a bit with Cemetery Dance Publications as well,…

Creating the Painting: Infection Unbound

Last weekend I was able to finish a painting that I’d wanted to do for some time. Not a digital image, but an acrylic painting. Here’s what it looked like in the gallery on Friday night: If anyone read the previous blog entry (not betting on it) about the original Read more…

Sketchcard the second: Pacal

Here’s the second of the sketchcards that I’ll have at the gallery, starting tomorrow night.  They are fun, and they are also helping me get back into the swing of things with inkwork. This one is of a mask/sculpture of Pacal, the Mayan ruler of Palenque. I think inks are Read more…

Sketchcards

I’ve seen several artists online talk about doing original sketchcards, either at local galleries or at conventions.  It’s something I’ve been considering for awhile as well, and with the new gallery I thought I’d give it a try. Here’s the first one, an ink sketch based on a gargoyle I Read more…

Now at the gallery

I’ve been a part of a local gallery for several months now, and it’s been a great experience.  Having been an illustrator for so many years, it’s been interesting to explore the prints and fine art side of things. Luckily, the On Display Gallery in Fort Collins, Colorado (just up Read more…

Now that the visitors are all gone, I’m getting back on track with things. There have been a few developments, and there are a couple of reminders here, so let’s get going. My art is featured in an actual, physical gallery locally now. The On Display Gallery in Fort Collins, Read more…
