About Kirk I'm a Colorado native who lives in Fort Collins with my wife, two sons and a tailess cat. My love of art began when I was four or five when i began drawing dinosaurs and superheroes. Most of my teen years were spent attempting to be a punk rocker and becoming a fairly decent skateboarder. I went to college and studied Graphic Arts and a few years later, after a job working graveyard shifts at Kinkos where I taught myself graphics programs on the Macs and PCs, I landed a job in pre-press at the local newspaper. While working there I became very acquainted with print methods and graphic design software by creating ads and troubleshooting problematic files. Five years later I was promoted to news graphic artist where I won numerous awards from various news media agencies. While I was in this position I designed about anything that can go to print. After accumulating nearly 11 years of experience working in print design I left the newspaper to be a contract artist for Plastic Games, an independent video game and simulation software developer. I have a very broad range of skills in the graphic design field. I'm able to work with printers and photographers and understand what it takes to work under tight deadlines and challenging, stressful situations. The bottom line is that I'm a competent, versatile graphic artist who will do what it takes to get the job done from start to finish. When given the chance I love getting outdoors and enjoy camping, fishing and hiking. I'll also be found working in my yard or embedded in a good book. I also spend considerable time researching new design trends and finding out what's going on in the design world. |
