Being a graphic designer as well as an artist can lead to some fun projects. When I’m working with authors, I tend to try to help them with what they need to push the books I’m doing the covers or other artwork for. After all, if they do well then hopefully I’ll get noticed as well.

Especially when the author is someone I already know, that makes it fun and hopefully I get to help a friend in the process.  That’s not to say I have the time or inclination to help on every project that I get, but I always think about it and try to help.

With my new cover for Kelli Owen’s book Six Days, I really wanted to help her out since this is her first novel. We talked about a few things, and we came up with the designs for her blog that appear in the gallery below (and also the wallpaper from a previous post).

The images appeared each day for six days (natch) leading up to last week’s book launch. They were designed to get someone interested, not only on the blog itself but also posted on message boards, Facebook, and other sites.

Graphic design is quite fun, and something I want to get back to doing more of. My last two jobs turned into fully IT and technical jobs, so any time that I can jump on a graphic design project I get right on it.

Here they are, and as always let me know what you think. Along with one for each countdown day, I also added two more “generic” ones to use after the book launched. There are also two for the “sixth day”, in case one was preferred over the other.
